Why do I have to do this?

It’s not the food itself that leads to a binge; it’s the anxiety, guilt and fear associated with eating the food . By avoiding specific foods completely you’re only reaffirming this anxiety, guilt and fear. By confronting this fear, you’ll expose it as fake and then these foods will quickly lose the dread attached to them .

Regular consumption of forbidden foods will prevent you from bingeing on them. You’ll no longer feel so deprived and miserable. You’ll start to find that prohibited foods lose their sparkle. Previously off-limits foods that are tasted every day are said to not taste as good as imagined. Very soon, it will become evident that you can handle all foods and that they have no control over you .

Try not to think of “sometimes food” as special treats to be eaten occasionally. They’re not special and they’re not treats. Do not make them more significant than they really are or allow yourself to see them as a reward .
